A few kilometres west and south, near another bridge over Bagmati River that links Kathmandu and Patan, jhuggis and jhupris have come up alongside the big, sophisticated, concrete, steel and glass architectures that many new Kathmandu buildings represent.

The Kantipur Complex at Tinkune used to be a modern structure until the blue glass Jagadamba building came up near by. In between, in front of Kantipur hospital, another structure is under construction. It will be good to see how it will change the posh look of that portion, a paddy field of 20 years ago.
