Never too late
A few months ago, a longevity
researcher had claimed that the first person to live until the 150th
birthday was already on the earth. Interestingly, he believed, the first person
to live for 1,000 years would be here in the next two decades. Doctors, by
then, would have the tools to cure ageing, banish diseases and extend life
indefinitely. So, why hurry to get things done! Why not wait for 20-25 years until
this British scientist shows us it is possible to cut and paste the genetic
scripts in human bodies and write the very constitution of our living in the
new age? By that time, let me assure you, our political leaders, heading for
100, 120, 150 and more, will regularly receive repair and maintenance for their
tiny cellular and molecular body parts and grow more thoughtful about the needs
of the new society. If you are an optimist, expect a better constitution for
the country as it will never be too late in that great old age.
